Spay-Neuter Clinic

The Watertown Humane Society, working with the Dane County Humane Society Shelter Outreach Services (“SOS”) offers Spay and Neuter Clinics for dogs and cats. This service is meant to cut down the number of unwanted kittens and puppies. It is especially appropriate in this difficult economic climate, as the fees are less than half of what these procedures would cost at most veterinary clinics.

A licensed veterinarian and several technicians from the Madison area bring all the equipment necessary to perform twenty-six spay and neuter surgeries in the course of one day.

Animals must be dropped off at the Shelter early in the morning the day of the clinic, and may be picked up between 5:30 and 6 p.m. the same day. You may bring them in beginning at 7:30a.m.

Plan to spend approximately 15 minutes chatting with the vet about your pet’s general health, distemper and rabies vaccinations prior to dropping off your pet. This consultation is required by State law.

Your furkid will given an examination by the vet before they have surgery, and distemper and rabies vaccines are given, as well as antibiotics and pain medications after the surgery.

All animals coming to the clinics must each be in their own individual crate or carrier for the safety of all animals and workers. Surgeries must be prepaid and a consent form must be signed at the Shelter before animals are placed on the list for neuters and spays.
