Understanding Dog Bite Behavior or Don’t blame the Dog When It Bites
Winter Pet Safety Tips
- Salt can irritate your pet’s feet. When you take your dog for a walk, coat their pads with petroleum jelly or other pet-safe balm to help protect them. Clean their pads thoroughly as soon as you get home. For safety reasons, we do not advocate letting your cat outdoors at any time of the year. If you do, remember that cats love to wander which puts them at risk to collecting salt on their feet as well. When cats lick their feet in their self-grooming process, they ingest the salt they’ve collected in their travels.
- Antifreeze kills! Antifreeze contains ethylene glycol which has a sweet taste that is yummy to all animals. It only takes a small sip to kill your pet. Keep antifreeze cleaned up and away from all animals, not just your pets. Ethylene glycol is present in other products as well and is extremely hazardous to children. It’s killing power is not restricted to winter weather areas.
- Make sure outdoor pets have a heated water dish and a warm dry place to get out out of the winter weather.
