Reclaim Fees

To reclaim your pet you must show proof that your pet is current on a Rabies vaccination. This is Wisconsin State Law and we can not release the animal with out this information and there are No Exceptions! If your pet is not current on a Rabies vaccination you must pre-pay for one at a vet clinic and bring along an invoice stating that you have paid and set up an appointment for your pet after it has been released from the shelter.

WHS holds stray animals for 7 days. If we are not contacted by an owner during the 7 days, the animal will then be assessed for adoptability. If the animal is considered adoptable they will be put up for adoption after the 7 day holding period. An owner contacting the shelter after the holding period will be required to go through the adoption application process and be subject to all adoption fees.

Owners have the option of having their pet micro-chipped at the time of reclaim for a fee of $20.00.  This may prevent future fees and may help eliminate the chance your pet steps foot in a shelter ever again.
